Delima is survived by her husband, Dean K., sons Carl and wife Barbara Provost, Newton Falls, Jeffery and his wife Roberta Provost, Newton Falls, a daughter, Lorrie and husband Sam Antwine, Fine, stepdaughters, Sheila Moore, Watertown, Kristy Clay, Watertown, a sister, Margaret Moran, Schenectady, 7 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild, 4 step grand children, several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by brothers, John and Wilfred Grenier. Delima was born on October 22, 1936 in Tupper Lake, the daughter of John and Mary Derosier Grenier. She married Dean K. Moore on August 7, 1990 in Harrisville. She was a laborer for DeMarco Construction Co. out of Rochester. Delima loved making puzzles, cooking and watching the cooking channels. Weaver Holt , Canton, paternal grandmother, Cecile R. LaPierre Holt, Gouverneur, a brother, Richard A. Holt, Ketchikan, Alaska, a sister and brother in law, Jennifer and Shawn Lashua, Hermon, nieces, Courtney Holt, and Sierra Lashua, nephews, Kodi Wentzel and Draven Lashua, great nephew, Cohen Marin, Jennika Shipee, Dylan Petrie, many aunts, uncles and cousins. He was predeceased by his maternal grandparents, Grace and Alex Weaver, and paternal grandfather, Richard Holt. Robert was born on December 20, 1977 in Watertown, he graduated from Hermon DeKalb Central School in 1997, and he then worked for NYSARC in Hermon as an assistant habilitation specialist. A marriage to Jessie Gladle ended in divorce. He loved to disassemble and reassemble anything mechanical, welding, and working on cars. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, February 24, 3 PM; at the Hermon United Methodist Church, Reverend Thomas Jones officiating. David is survived by his wife, Anne E. Clark, daughter, Liza G. Clark, Canton, son, Joshua W. Clark, Japan, father and mother in-law, Michael and Betty Carr Marino, Canton, several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother Gene Clark, a sister, Pat Druri and Edwin Peterson. Born on February 7, 1945 in Sioux Falls, SD, the son of Norman and Jaqueline Fick Clark, he attended Bemidji State University, Minnesota, and graduated with a bachelors’ degree in Applied Psychology. He married Anne Fish on March 24, 1981 in Watertown; SD. David was a Lay Pastor for the Seven Steeples United Methodist Churches (Degrasse United Methodist Church, Hermon United Methodist Church and Russell United Methodist Church). He was a member of the Madison Musician Association. He loved to help and mentor troubled teenagers through his work as a substitute teacher at St. Lawrence Central School. David’s life’s passion was being on stage, singing, playing the guitar and preaching the Word of God. He took the time to reach out and touch the people he encountered in his daily life. Demetrius Alexander Wolter, May 14, 2010, Morristown NY, passed away at 2 years 9 months on February 17, 2013. He belonged to a loving family which consisted of his mother Arielle, his baby sister Alexis, and his grandfather Merle. Demetrius was a very strong child that battled a severe case of encephalitis when he was only two weeks old. During his time with us he enjoyed being close to the ones he loved and his best friend Scout. His family will miss him deeply and feels blessed for the time they were given with their little angel. He was born on July 15, 1927, in Gouverneur, the son of Jesse and Fannie Buck Donaldson. Leslie married Helen Blair on December 14, 1944. Leslie owned and operated his dairy farm in the Town of DeKalb for over 50 years. He loved to do woodworking, hunt, and going to field days. Faye is survived by a son, John Putman of Canton, daughters, Diana Putman, Hermon, Patricia Wilson, Hermon, Bonnie and her husband Lee Cox, Willow Street, PA, 11 grandchildren, 37 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a sister, Onita Boyden and granddaughters, Deborah Lynn Silva and Denise Louise Sharkey. Faye was born on November 22, 1918 in the Town of Edwards, the daughter of Dale and Edithel Rose Miller. She graduated from Edwards School and then attended nursing school in Syracuse. Faye married Merrill M. Putman on May 20, 1939 at the Baptist Parsonage in Gouverneur; he died on March 28, 2007. She was the postmistress at the Russell Post Office and retired in 1983 after 20+ years of service. Faye was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star in Edwards, and the Hermon Baptist Church, where she was very active, including teaching Sunday school. She loved gardening, painting, bead making, making quilts, sewing, doing any kind of crafts, fishing, camping, hunting and cooking. Edna was a homemaker, and a housekeeper for St. Henry’s Church’s Pastors. She was a parishioner of St. Henry’s Church, a member of St. Henry’s Altar Rosary Society, and the DeKalb Junction Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. He was predeceased by his father Maurice Matott. Russell was born on August 5, 1955 in Gouverneur, the son of Maurice Matott and Lenore Elsey Bovay. He graduated from Hermon DeKalb Central School in 1973. He married Barbara Ortiz November 18, 2000 in FL. He was a dry wall contractor in FL. Russell’s interests included music, writing, drawing, and painting. Prior to his death he thoroughly enjoyed playing guitar with a group during services at the 1st United Methodist church in Inverness. Shirley was born on February 7, 1935 in Gouverneur, the daughter of Robert and Gartha Stevens Stacy. She graduated from Gouverneur High School in 1954. Shirley married Daniel S. Taylor on July 31, 1954 at the Gouverneur Presbyterian Church, Rev. Andrew Schofield officiating, Dan died on March 23, 2010. Shirley was a food service worker at Canton Central School for over 17 years, she retired in 2006. She was a member, Sunday school teacher and on the Sunshine 2001, she was a 4H leader and judged sewing, a member of the DeKalb Hermon Senior Citizen Club, Canton Senior Citizen Club, and The Friday Girls. Cedric Kirkpatrick died April 15th, 2013 at the Canton Potsdam Hospital. Cedric was a long time resident of Hermon, New York. A graveside service will be May 25, 2013, 11:00 am at the Spragueville Cemetery, Spragueville, Lay Pastoral Assistant Martha Helmer officiating, a gathering will be at 1:00 PM at the family farm, 1912 CR 21, Hermon. He was born in Spragueville, New York on December 15, 1936, the son of Ida and Percy Kirkpatrick. Cedric attended Hermon School and graduated in 1954. He ran and operated the family farm in Hermon, providing for his family and friends. Cedric was one of seven children. He was predeceased by; Harold, Muriel, Bernice and Earl. He is survived by his sisters Eunice, residing in Sonora California and Eleanor in Russell, New York and several nieces and nephews. After he closed down the family farm, Cedric worked at the Hermon Cemetery from 1995-2005. He was the consummate unselfish man, he provided for his family, putting his goals and dreams aside to make sure that everyone who needed shelter and friendship were provided for. Cedric will be missed by family and friends. Everyone who came into contact with him will forever remember his gentle demeanor and his kind and quiet generosity. Richard was born on July 12, 1974, the son of Dennis and Joan Conto Harris. He married Shirley F. Baugh on June 30, 2012 at their home in Morley. Betty married Brent Gale on July 20, 1960 at the Gouverneur United Methodist Church, Reverend Brown officiating; he died on January 6, 2007. She was a home health care aide for the Community Development Program in Canton and prior to that she was a bartender at the Meadows in Fowler. Kathy is survived by her husband, Ronald Williams, daughter, Carol and her husband Michael Guentherman, Wylie, Texas, son in law, Phil Barton, Schulter, Oklahoma, grandchildren, Matthew Barton, Kylie Guentherman, Ashley Guentherman, and Katy Guentherman. She was predeceased by a daughter Anne Barton. Kathryn was born on January 11, 1947 in Salem, Massachusetts, the daughter of Richard and Kathrine VanWhelle. She graduated from Ewing High School, Ewing, NJ in 1964, she received her bachelor of political science degree from Hood College in Frederick, Maryland, and she then attended New York Theological Seminary. Kathy was a teacher’s aide at Hermon DeKalb Central School for over 20 years. She was a member of the DeKalb Historical Association, and CSEA. She loved animals, milking cows, dogs, gardening (plants and flowers), she was a professional knitter, making items for TAUNY, Pickens General Store, and the Cancer Centers.

Arthur W. Ploof Sr., 99, of Newton Falls, died at his home surrounded by his loving family on July 18, 2013. There will be no services. Arthur is survived by his children, Arthur W. Ploof Jr. and his wife Janet, of Cranberry Lake, Carol Wacholz, of Chicago, Lee Ploof, of Tennessee, Gloria Kapp and her husband Gary of Montana, John H. Ploof of Rochester and Donna Mattingly of Newton Falls, 9 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Raymond Ploof, sisters, Elsie Muller and Laura Charland and a granddaughter Terri Lee Payne. Arthur was born on May 6, 1914 in St. Regis Falls, the son of William and Mae Farmer Ploof. He married Catherine Patnode on June 6, 1937 in Piercefield, NY; she died on October 31, 1994. Arthur was a tower boss at Newton Falls Paper Mill until his retirement. He enjoyed playing golf, fishing, bowling and hunting. He was predeceased by a son James Chilton, a brother James R. Chilton, and a sister Rebecca Ruth Denn. Russell was born on April 10, 1935 in the Town of Canton, the son of James Virgil and Dorothy Ruth Hill Chilton. Marriages to Donna Pritty, Aletheia Knapp and Marilyn ended in divorce. Russell owned and operated Chilton Excavation, after his retirement he moved to Florida. He was a member of the Old Time Truckers Association, the Teamsters Union and an honorary member of his hunting club. He loved spending time with his family, playing Santa Claus, coast to coast truck driving (his own tractor trailer), traveling, four wheeling, and was an avid hunter.
